C-Tug Kayak Trolley

Image
Man created the wheel thousands of years ago, therefore there is no need to drag a kayak through the sand or haul a kayak over your shoulder for long distances.     C-TUG makes one of the higher end kayak trolleys and their design is definitely different from the normal metal tube frame with rubber tires found on most carts. T he cart is made of a very rigid plastic with stainless steel reinforced axles, so you have no corrosion, and it’s very strong.   Disassembled Position   A major feature of the Kayak trolley is that the whole unit is super easy to assemble and disassemble without the use of any tools, and will fit inside my rear kayak hatch. It does take up a lot of space though.  All of the individual parts are replaceable, should you misplace any.   Wheel clip in open position for assembly / disassembly Wheel clip will make an audible click when locked in place Fully assembled and ready to use The SandTrakz puncture free wheels ar

Furno Pot Set

Image
The Furno Pot Set is an inexpensive lightweight cooking pot set, consisting of two hard anodized aluminium pots with foldable stainless steel handles.  The pots interlock together allowing a 230g gas canister and a MSR Micro Rocket stove to slip inside for efficient storage.  A strong lightweight mesh bag holds it all together when stored.     The main pot has a capacity of 850mls and is a good size for a solo camper.  The small pot has a capacity of 350mls and is a good size for boiling water for a single cup of tea or coffee and doubles as a lid for the larger pot.    The pots have folding stainless steel wire handles with a plastic lining as a hand grip.  However on the smaller pot, the handle is fairly close to the burner flame and while at full flame, the handle heats up quite significantly, destroying the plastic lining and will be to hot to handle with bare hands.  With the larger pot, this is not a problem as the handle is much further away.  To overcome t

MSR Micro Rocket Stove

The "MSR Micro Rocket" is a super compact lightweight gas burner weighing just 75 grams.  It comes with a piezo electric lighter and a plastic hard shell carry case.  The build quality is exceptional and it screws directly into a standard isobutane gas canister.     The burner is simple to operate.  Simply fold out the supports, screw it onto a isobutane gas canister, turn it on, light and start cooking.  The flame is completely adjustable from just barely on to a full on burn that resembles a jet engine. The legs have no slop in them and line up perfectly every time and fold down to a size that will fit in the palm of your hand.  Some gas will escape from the canister as you are screwing the burner head in, but it seals perfectly once it is fully wound in. The Tri-sectional Wind Clip located on top of the burner helps shield the flame from a breeze.  It basically divides the burner into thirds, so if there is wind, 2/3 of the burner is

Picnic Bay

Picnic Bay is a small  bay on the south-east corner of Magnetic Island.  It is located approximately 7.03 km from the Palleranda Boat ramp or 8.23 km from the Strand Beach launch site and has the following GPS coordinates  S19 10 49.4  E146 50 16.3   Google Maps Link                Picnic Bay was the original landing site for ferry services from the mainland.  In 2003 the passenger ferries ceased operating at Picnic Bay,  but the heritage listed jetty still remains.  The jetty is in a fairly good state of repair and is a prominent feature within the bay. The jetty is located at the western end of the bay, along side the surf lifesaving club and the stinger net enclosure.  There is a also a single lane boat ramp next to the jetty and a large sandy beach area perfect for landing a kayak. There are small scattered sections of reef  surrounding the area, which are visible as you glide over them on a calm day.  At certain times, large schools of sardines congregate aro
